What’s up, everybody?!
Things around here have been wild. You deserve an update.
In case you haven’t heard, I accepted a position with Abilene Christian University. This year, I’m a half-time instructor. I’m slated for five courses from Summer ‘24 to Spring ‘25. Then the family relocates to Abilene, TX, for Fall ‘25. I’m ecstatic! We didn’t imagine that God was leading us to relocate, but all signs point to a future in the Great State of Texas. So I’ve been preparing for my first online course, in June.
Meanwhile, things in my local ministry context are popping off. Stones River Church received grant funding from our county as an extension of the National Opioids Settlement, which has allowed us to ramp up our ongoing work with homeless and recently incarcerated persons in our community. Kingdom work is underway!
Regular ministry continues apace, and I’m also working on a revision of my doctoral dissertation for publication in Cascade’s new series on missional hermeneutics. If you missed them, here are a couple of my other recent publications:
“Missional Interpretation of Scripture,” Discernment: Theology and Practice of Ministry 10, no. 1, https://digitalcommons.acu.edu/discernment/vol10/iss1/1.
“The Bible Says: Reading Scripture as Participants in the Mission of God,” Mission Alive Newsletter,
I continue to produce the Missiology Podcast and appear in every other regular episode. To focus attention on Theology on the Way, I’ve stepped away from executive editing Missio Dei journal after fifteen years, but as ever, new endeavors beckon. I’ve begun a podcast with my coworker, Jon McPeters, called Word.y. I’ll cross-post these episodes here, but it’s only fair to let you know what I’ve been up to.
Several amazing TotW conversations are in the works. It’s full steam ahead for the podcast, and I plan to ramp my writing back up in short order. No doubt, the pace of production will adapt as my teaching vocation evolves. But I intend not only to continue writing regularly but to grow TotW. We’ve only just begun! Hold fast, my friends. More is on the way.
Thanks for sharing what is going on with you Greg- its amazing how context helps!!!
